The annual River Festival, is a joyous national celebration of the Mekong and Tole Sap rivers in Cambodia is an expression of the beauty and importance to life.
The festival is celebration rotates among provinces surrounding the Tonle Sap Lake and those along rivers like the Mekong; it has been an annual event since 2015, first launched in Kratie province and followed by Kampong Cham, Stung Treng, Kandal– all along the Mekong River – Kampong Chhnang, Battambang and Kampong Thom, Siem Reap – four of the five provinces surrounding the Tonle Sap Lake.
The River Festival is not just a celebration, but also a mission to advance the cause of river conservation and heritage preservation through mass community participation and offers the provinces a unique opportunity to showcase its potential to domestic and international visitors.
